Quota reform protesters could not hold their scheduled press briefing as they were allegedly attacked by BCL members.Panic has gripped Dhaka University students since the protestors demanding reforms to quotas in civil service were attacked on the campus on Saturday.
A group of unidentified people, armed with sticks, attacked the activists of ruling Awami League’s students wing Bangladesh Cahttra League attacked leaders of the Council for the Preservation of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights in front of the central library.
Several people, including the Council’s Joint Convener Nurul Haque Nuru, were injured in the attack.
The Council blamed the ruling Awami League’s student wing Bangladesh Chattra League for the attack, which the BCL denied.

Wishing anonymity, a third-year Political Science student told Bangla Tribune, “General students are now afraid and situations in the campus will become instable if more attacks continue to come on the quota protesters.”
Blaming the BCL for the attack, a fourth-year student, said, “Now, BCL can attack any student and they also warned the general students of staying away from the quota protest.”
They don’t feel safe now we demand security from the university authorities, said the student.
Professor Abdur Razzak termed incident of the attack ‘totally unexpected’ and ‘sad’
“It’s a failure for the administration,” said Razzak, who teaches at the Mass Communication and Journalism department.
DU Proctor AKM GOlam Rabbani, however, asked the students to inform the authorities if they feel unsafe.
“The university authorities will take any measure to ensure the safety to the students.” Rabbani said.
