Wari girl strangled to death after rape attempt: Doctor

Samia Afrin Sayma.The 7-year-old girl who was found dead at Dhaka’s Wari was sexually assaulted before she was strangled to death by a rape, autopsy reveals.
The body of Samiya Afrin Sayma bear injuries near her genitals and lips, Sohel Mahmud, the forensic head of Dhaka Medical College told the media on Saturday (Jul 6).
Medical authorities are running DNA tests to confirm whether she was raped or not, he added.
Police recovered Samiya’s body, a student of Silverdale School, from an unfinished apartment two floors above her Wari home late on Friday.
The victim's father, Abdus Salam, a businessman, said he returned home around 7pm and could not find Samiya in her room. He began searching with his wife.
When they failed to find the girl in their fifth-floor apartment, they began checking the other floors, some of which were under construction.

Around 8pm, they found her body with a rope tied around her neck in the kitchen of the unfinished apartment on the seventh floor.

Wari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizur Rahman said they took six people, including the security guard and the caretaker of the building, to the police station for interrogation. 

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Wari Zone) Mohammad Shamsuzzaman said a case was filed by the victim's father on Saturday morning.
