Child murdered in Dhaka’s Wari, 5 held

Samia Afrin SaymaFive people were detained on Saturday (Jul 6), a day after a seven-year-old child was murdered in Wari, Dhaka.
Primarily, police suspect that she was murdered after being raped, Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Wari Police Station, told Bangla Tribune.
The deceased has been identified as Samiya Afrin Sayma, a student of Silverdale School.
The victim's father, Abdus Salam, a businessman, said he returned home around 7pm on Friday (Jul 5) and could not find Samiya in her room after which he and his wife began searching for her.
When they failed to find the girl in their fifth-floor apartment, they began checking the other floors, some of which were under construction.

Around 8pm, they found her body with a rope tied around her neck in the kitchen of an unfinished apartment on the seventh floor.

The police took five people, including the security guard and the caretaker of the building, to the police station for interrogation, he said.

The victim's father has filed a case in this connection, the OC added.
