HC moved against gas price hike

Lawyer Yunus Ali Akand filed the petition with HC bench concerned on Thursday (Jun 4).
“The HC bench of justices Syed Refaat Ahmed and Md Iqbal Kabir may hear the petition on Jul 7,” Akand told Bangla Tribune.
On Jun 30, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission announced a gas price hike for all users on an average by 32.8 percent including household users.
The monthly gas bill for single-burner stoves has been hiked to Tk 925 from Tk 750 and double-burners at Tk 975 from Tk 800.
For customers paying for gas by the cubic metre, the price will jump to Tk 12.60 per cubic metre from Tk 9.10 per cubic metre.
