Murder suspect killed in Dhaka ‘shootout’

RamjanA man has been killed in Dhaka in what the police described as a shootout.
The incident was reported around 3am on Wednesday (Jul 3) at Satarkul area in the capital’s Badda, said police.
The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Ramjan, an accused in the murder case filed for the killing of Farhad Ali, served as general secretary of Awami League’s North Badda unit in Dhaka.
“A shootout took place between a team of detective branch of police and a group of miscreants in the area. Ramjan was caught in the cross firing,” said Badda police Sub-Inspector Masudur Rahman.
“Ramjan was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the doctor declared him dead,” said Rahman.
“Fire arms and empty bullet shells were recovered from the scece,” he said.
“Two police members were also injured in the incident,” he added.
On Jun 15, 2018, 54-year-old Farhad Ali was shot to death by unidentified assailants at Purbachal area in North Badda.
