The High Court has directed the government to investigate the travel agencies and the human traffickers responsible for the death of 37 Bangladeshis in the Mediterranean Sea in May and report to it by 60 days.
The HC bench of justices FRM Nazmul Ahsan and KM Kamrul Kader handed the order after hearing a writ petition on Monday (Jul 1).
On Jun 17, lawyer Emdadul Huq moved the petition seeking HC directive on the government to act against the travel agencies and human traffickers responsible for the deaths and sought Tk 10 million in compensation for each of the victims.
