Police arrested a youth from Patuakhali in connection with the killing of Rifat Sharif in broad daylight in Barguna on Sunday (Jun 30).

The arrestee was identified as Sagar. 

Sagar's name appears in the list of accused of Rifat murder case, police headquarters' Assistant Inspector General (media) Sohel Rana told Bangla Tribune.

In the killing of Rifat in Barguna in broad daylight, so far, four persons have been arrested.

On Jun 27, Rifat’s father Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif lodged a case accusing 12 persons.

The two arrested earlier have been taken to remand.

On Jun 26, Rifat was hacked in front of his wife on the road in front of Barguna College. At this time, Rifat’s Wife Ayesha Siddika, Minni tried desperately to stop the killers but failed.

The crime happened in front of hundreds of people though no one intervened to save Rifat.

However, it’s believed that one of the attackers, Roshan Foraizi did not want to kill Rifat and at one point tried to restrain the main killer, Nayan. However, after the attack he also fled the scene.
