Journalists have observed the second day of protests against the indecorous language used by ACC in letters to two members of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters’ Association, CRAB. On Thursday morning at 11 am, members of CRAB and other organisations formed a human chain, protested the letters and demanded their withdrawal.
At the protest rally, CRAB President Abul Khair, said: “the officials of ACC do not know courtesy; the chairman has to explain why he wrote such a letter. The official who signed the letter has to be removed and the letters were withdrawn.”
Dhaka Reporters’ Unity, president, Ilias Hossain, observed: “the positive reputation that ACC enjoys is due to the media; once this was steeped in corruption; but later, after a change of name we gave affirmative reviews which improved its image.”
Former president of DRU, Saiful Islam, added: “this sort of letter from ACC is humiliating for journalists and they need to be withdrawn.
