ACC Director Sheikh Mohammad Fanafillah asked Bangla Tribune's Dipu Sarwar to be present at the ACC offices on Jun 26, failure to do which will lead to legal steps on the graft watchdog’s part. The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned Bangla Tribune Special Correspondent Dipu Sarwar over a report published about Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mizan who has been accused of bribing ACC director Enamul Basir with Tk 4 million to influence a probe against him.
ACC Director Sheikh Mohammad Fanafillah asked Sarwar to be present at the ACC offices on Jun 26, failure to do which will lead to legal steps on the graft watchdog’s part.
“Your testimony is needed over the allegations of ACC Director Enamul Basir receiving Tk 4 million from DIG Mizan,” the notice read.
“You have been asked to be present at the office of the signatory in 26/06/2019 about the aforementioned complaint otherwise legal action will be taken.”
Bangla Tribune hadn’t published any such news except a report Jun 23 titled ‘Who is the mysterious Doyas in conversation with DIG Mizan?’ on the audio clips of conversation between DIG Mizan and an Bangladeshi expatriate Abdul Doyas.
Dipu Sarwar reached Md Fanafillah over the phone regarding the legal steps but was told that anything he says would have to be said at the ACC office.
