Road accidents in Jashore, Savar kill four

Two school children were killed in a road crash on the Jashore-Chuknagar highway in Monirampur Upazila’s Bijoyrampur Khoitoala area on Wednesday morning.
The victims were identified as Ashiqur Rahman and Al Amin both 10th graders at Dholigati High School.
According to sources, a Dhaka bound Hanif Paribahan bus hit the two boys and left them critically injured when they were returning home from the coaching centre on a motorcycle.
Ashiqur died while being taken to Monirampur Upazila Health Complex, while Al Amin succumbed to his injuries on the way to Jashore General Hospital, said locals.
Locals blocked the Jashore-Chuknagar highway in protest after the accident around 9am.
Police went to the scene and brought the situation under control around 10am after negotiating with the protesters, confirmed Monirampur police OC.
Meanwhile, in Savar, two motorcycle riders were killed on the spot after being hit by a truck.
The deceased were identified as 61-year-old Sheikh Sadar Ali, and 28-year-old Alamgir Hossain.
The truck hit the motorcycle at the Sreepur Bus Stand area, leaving both the riders dead on spot, said Savar Highway police Sub-Inspector Shafikul Islam.
He added that the police recovered the bodies and handed them over to their families.
