Deputy Inspector General Mizanur Rahman FILE PHOTOPolice Headquarters have formed a committee to investigate allegations of graft and submit a probe report in a case filed against Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Md Mizanur Rahman.
Confirming the matter, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Media) Sohel Rana said that further measures will be taken after the probe report has been handed in.
Earlier, DIG Mizanur Rahman alleged that Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director, Khandaker Enamul Basir, accepted his bribes worth Tk 4 million—in two phases—in exchange for information.
On Jun 10, the ACC said it has suspended its director Basir and removed him from the probe team that was investigating the wealth of DIG Mizanur, for leaking a probe report to DIG Mizanur.
On May 3 last year, ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwary interrogated Mizan about his alleged accumulation of illegal wealth. Later, Basir was given charge of the investigation.
Mizan was withdrawn as additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) following a marital scandal in January last year and attached with the police headquarters now.
