Three teachers and one assistant librarian with certificates from Darul Ihsan University have received Monthly Payment Order (MPO).
Despite a suspension order by the Secondary and Higher Secondary Division of the ministry of education, the MPO was given to them by the Secondary and Higher Secondary Department.
Deputy Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Department of Dhaka, Sakhaet Hossain, said: “MPO is being given at the order of the ministry of education and soon the suspension on acceptance of the certificates of Darul Ihsan will be withdrawn.”
Education ministry sources say that after a ruling by the high court, an order was issued on Aug 28, 2018, to provide MPO to around 3500 teacher and workers holding degrees from Darul Ihsan University.
But the order was postponed since the opinion of the ministry of law was not taken.
As a result, around three thousand teachers and assistant librarians are not getting MPO.
It’s alleged that teachers who are lobbying and managing the district and other offices are getting MPO.
Though the MPO application of teachers was cancelled after the suspension order of Aug 29, four applications were accepted since last May.
Speaking on the matter, deputy director Sakhaet Hossain, said: “They are old teachers and for the assistant librarian, MPO recommendation was made on the grounds that the person will obtain a certificate from another institution.”
There is an allegation that teachers are being included in MPO with changes in salary codes.
Convener of the forum of those holding certificates from Darul Ihsan University and deprived of MPO, Siamul Huq, observes: “We will have a human chain in front of the Press Club on Jun 11; if our demands are not met then we will ask an intervention from the PM through a memorandum.”
