The advance tickets for North Bengal-bound buses for Jun 3 have already sold out one day into the sale of tickets.
The railway authorities started sale of advance bus tickets on Friday (May 17) and north-bound passengers are already disappointed.
The ticket counters at Kalyanpur and Gabtoli are out of tickets for all the northern districts. Only a few counters have some tickets for Jun 2 and 4 which are expected to be sold out by Saturday.
Given the circumstances, passengers are either leaving the counters disappointed or buying tickets for Jun 2 and 4.
Bus authorities think that since the estimated date for Eid-ul-Fitr is Jun 5, and government holiday start on Jun 4, the demand for Jun 3 tickets are more.Private university student Rimon wants to start for home on Jun 3 but tickets have sold out.
“There is a lot of traffic on the North Bengal road. That’s why I wanted to start a day before the government holiday started,” he said.
Kalyanpur ticket counter employee Asaduzzaman told Bangla Tribune that the demand of May 30 and Jun 3 tickets are more and they are sold out.
“The tickets for Jun 2 and 4 are almost running out. Today the passenger queue is lighter because most of the tickets sold out yesterday [Friday],” he said.
Bangladesh Bus Truck Owner’s Association Chairman Ramesh Chandra Ghosh said that the buses will start setting out for their destinations from May 30.
