Selling of advance bus tickets for people going back to the villages has started on Friday (May 17) at the city’s Gabtali and Mohakhali terminals. This will run till May 30.
Ticket sales have also begun in other counters in Kalyanpur, Shyamoli, College Gate and Kalabagan.
Earlier, at a meeting of the Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners’ Association held on May 9, a decision was taken to sell advance tickets.
Chairman of the association, Ramesh Chandra Ghosh, says: “Ticket sales have begun and will continue till May 30; all big transport companies, Shyamoli, Hanif, Shohag, Green Line, Nabil, Ena and others will be selling tickets.”
Leaving two tickets open, all other tickets will be sold, added Ramesh Chandra.
General-manager of ENA transport, Syed Atiqul Islam, said: “We are giving tickets since there is huge pressure on the north Bengal route.”
Tickets for Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Barishal are sold from Gabtali and adjacent areas.
