Nusrat murder: Feni SP Jahangir withdrawn

The superintendent of police in Feni SM Jahangir Alam Sarkar has been withdrawn for his negligence in dealing the case filed over the murder of madrasa girl Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
“He has been attached to the headquarters on Sunday (May 12) following an order issued by the home ministry,” said Sohel Rana, assistant inspector general (media and PR).
The action against Sarkar followed the recommendation submitted by a probe panel formed by the police headquarters to investigate the murder.
Led by to Deputy Inspector General SM Ruhul Amin, the probe panel reported to police HQ on Apr 30.
As per the committee’s recommendation, former OC of Feni’s Sonagazi police Moazzem Hossain was suspended and attached to the office of deputy inspector general (DIG) of Rangpur rang.
SI Md Yusuf and SI Iqbal Ahammed were attached to the DIG office of Khulna rang and the Khagrachari Hill Tract district office respectively.
On 6, Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa in, was set ablaze allegedly for refusing to withdraw sexual abuse charges against principal Siraj Ud Doula.
After battling critical burn injuries for five days, the 18-year-old died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Apr 10.
Most of the suspects are now behind the bars with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina personally assuring that every single person involved in Nusrat’s murder would be brought to book.
