Amid the media reports of red meat traders charging more than that of set price by the government, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atikql Islam has said meat is being sold at the fixed price.
“I have seen the huge supply of cattle in the market. Meat is being sold at the price set by city authorities,” he told the media while visiting the city’s Mohakhali kitchen market on Sunday [May 12].
The mayor said they are working to keep the market ‘stable’.
“So far, five market monitoring teams have been in operation,” he said.
Speaking of shops on the footpath, Atiqul warned the hawkers of driving from the city streets.
“No shop will be allowed on the streets. We evicted some shops last week... I informed them [hawkers] that they must go,” he said.
Responding a query over the city corporation taking over the Mohamamdpur Town Hall playground, Atiqul said he order to decorate the field.
“The issue face some legal complexities and the city corporation’s law division has been ordered to settle it” added the mayor.
