The detention was reported from a three-story house at the city’s Khilkhet Maddhyapara area on Friday (May 10).
Police also detained a manpower agent and another man and seized 56 Bangladeshi passports during the raid.
Sources at Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said that about a week ago, an organised gang brought these Rohingya women from Cox’s Bazar refugee camps to the house, located near to the Dhaka airport.
The Rohingya women were being thought of Bangla language before being sent to Malaysia.
Tipped-off, a DB team raid the house on Friday morning and detained 26 people including 24 Rohingya women.
Police also nabbed Ayub, a manpower agent, and Kajol, son of the house owner, said DB officials.
DB Deputy-Commissioner (West) Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman said these women were taking preparation to go to Malaysia using Bangladeshi passport.
“We are quizzing them on how they collected the passport,” said Rahman before adding police were trying to trace who assisted the Rohingya women.
Another DB official said these Rohingyas were being sent to abroad promising jobs.
“We are looking into that whether these women really had any job offer or they became the victim of trafficking,” said officials who wished to go unnamed.
