Police have arrested one man over allegation of raping a garments worker at the capital’s Bhatara.
Rustam Ali, 30 was arrested on Tuesday (Apr 30) for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman who worked at Nabisco Garments in Mohakhali, Bhatra police Sub Inspector Altaf Hossain Bangla Tribune.
He said that the victim was raped several times after the accused promised her marriage.
“The victim has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s One Stop Crisis Centre,” he said.
The victim in her complaint said that she met Rustam while she was working at Nabisco Garments.
She said that they were in a relationship for six months after which he promised her marriage and raped her several times
She added that on Apr 13 he took her to a hotel in the capital and raped her again but denied his claims of a marriage after which she filed a case.
One of her neighbours, Rezaul said that Rustam taped them and was blackmailing her with the video.
