A woman drug dealer, who police claimed the ‘drug queen’ of Mohammadpur’s Geneva camp, and her husband have been arrested in the capital, police said.
Tipped-off a special team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) picked up Farhana Akter Papia, 25, and her husband Joynal Abedin Panchu, 29, in Lalbagh area on Thursday night, Dhaka Metropolitan Police spokesperson Masudur Rahman said.
Police also confiscated 20,000 pieces of yaba tablet, a firearms, five rounds of bullets and a huge amount of explosives during the raid.
The couple has been named in several cases with Mohammadpur and Mothejeel police stations. Enlisted in police’s recording, Papia herself was named in four cases including drug and arms ones with Mohammapur police station.
Sources at Geneva camp said Panchu brought her wife Papia to the drug business.
She used to run yaba racket using beautiful women, they said adding, the couple operated their drug network staying outside the camp for long.
Papia had gone behind the bar several times and come out on bail, then started over her drug peddling each time, according to the sources.
