Police have pressed charges on transport operator Suprobhat Paribahan’s owner and five others over the death of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury.

On Thursday (Apr 25), the detective branch submitted two chargesheets against the six – one over the killing of Abrar and the other in the attempted murder case filed over severely injuring college girl Synthia Islam Mukta.

The six accused are owner of Suprobhat Paribahan Noni Gopal Sarker, driver Mohammad Sirajul Islam, conductor Yasin Arafat, helper Md Ibrahim, route president MD Alauddin and director Ashrafuddin.

A Suprobhat Paribahan bus ran over both of them in two separate incidents on Mar 19.

Sheikh Rokibur Rahman, general recording officer of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court, told Bangla Tribune.

DB police pressed charges against Yasin, Noni Gopal, Alauddin and Ashrafuddin in Abrar’s murder case while all six of them were named in the charge sheet of Synthia’s case.

Abrar was run over by a Suprobhat Paribahan bus on the morning of Mar 19 when he was crossing the street in front of Jamuna Future Park shopping mall in Dhaka.

It was later learned that the same bus had struck Synthia Islam Mukta earlier that morning, leaving her seriously injured and crushed Abrar as it was trying to flee the scene of the first incident.
