The authorities of Dhaka Literary Festival or Dhaka Lit Fest are set to hold the seventh edition of the festival within weeks.
All preparation has been completed for the biggest literary event in the country that will kick off on November 16 and continue till 18, a press release said on Thursday.
This year’s line-up features a diverse range of creative personalities, announced on the festival website on 25 October, which includes Adonis, Ben Okri, Tilda Swinton, Lionel Shriver, Nabaneeta Dev Sen, William Dalrymple, Esther Freud, Charles Glass, Syed Manzoorul Islam, among others, the press release said.
Over 200 speakers, performers and thinkers, representing 23 countries, will take part in the 3-day event, which is free and open to all. Amongst its hundred-plus sessions, the festival will launch the British literary journal ‘Granta’ in Bangladesh.
According to the press release, this year’s programme, which will be published on 10 November, will include book launches, film screenings and special performances, with the announcement of winners of the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature and Gemcon
Literary Awards, the highest monetary value literary prize in Bangladesh.
The directors of Dhaka Lit Fest are Sadaf Saaz, Ahsan Akbar and Kazi Anis Ahmed, with Dhaka Tribune and Bangla Tribune as the Title Sponsor, BRAC Bank as Key Sponsor and supported by the Ministry of Culture.
Dhaka Lit Fest is the largest international literary festival in Bangladesh, and it marks a resurgence of Bangladeshi literary culture while vigorously engaging other cultures from around the world.
