‘Drug abuse would be uprooted from Dhaka at any cost’

He said we have waged a war against drug abuse being instructed by the Prime Minister. There would remain no drug den in Dhaka. All the dens will be destroyed. No drug dealer would be spared; no matter how powerful he is, or to which party he belongs.”
The DMP chief made the comment at a programme organised at Azimpur Government School and College on occasion of distributing clothes among ultra poor helpless people of the capital on Sunday.
Calling on the people to supply police with information over drug dealers and dens, Asaduzzaman said, “Come let us take part in the war against drug abuse altogether as we did against extremist militancy. The youth who could become a wealth for the society and the country; he has now become a burden to society due to drug abuse. Give information about drug dealers and dens, we shall keep your identity secret.”
Warning of exemplary punishment for harassing anybody during anti-drug campaign, He said, “If any police official harasses anybody in the name of controlling drugs or terrorism, we shall take action against him.”
