An alleged drug peddler has been killed in Dhaka in what the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) described as shootout.
The incident was reported around 5.15am on Thursday (Apr 11) from Dhaka Udyan area in the capital’s Mohammadpur, said RAB media wing Director Mufti Mahmed Khan.
The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Nabi Hossain.
“A shootout took place at a RAB check post with a group of drug peddlers in the area. Nabi Hossain died on the spot in the incident,” said Khan.
A pistol, ammunition and 10,000 yaba tablets were seized from the scene, he said.
Two members of their team were also injured in the incident, added the elite force official.
RAB said Nabi was a yaba trader at Geneva Camp in Mohammadpur and he used to smuggle yaba from Teknaf and Cox's Bazar to Dhaka.
