Bangladesh Road Transport Owners’ Association has asked to be included in the case in which Green Line Transport was ordered to pay Tk 50 million as compensation for an accident.
An appeal in this regard was made on Tuesday (Apr 9), at the chamber court of the appellate division. The road transport owners’ body has asked to be included in the case on the side of Green Line.
Meanwhile, there is a court order on Green Line to pay Rasel, the person who was injured and maimed in an accident involving a Green Line bus, Tk 50 million on Wednesday (Apr 10).
In case the fine is not paid, the court has ordered the stopping of the sales of the bus company’s tickets from Apr 11.
On Apr 28, 2018, as a result of an altercation, the driver of Green Line drove his bus over Rasel, a private car driver, severing his left leg.
After the incident, MP from the reserved seats, Umme Kulsum, lodged a writ; following a hearing, the High Court ordered a Tk 50 million fine on Mar 12. The court also ordered Green Line Transport Company to pay for the medical treatment plus the cost of a prosthetic leg for Rasel.
On Mar 31, the appellate division upheld the verdict of the high court. Chief justice Syed Mahmud Hossain dismissed Green Line’s appeal against the court order; but the bus company has not paid Rasel as yet.
