The High Court (HC) has dismissed a rule regarding the bail of Rana Plaza owner Sohel Rana in a case filed by Anti Corruption Commission for irregularities in the construction of the building.
The HC also directed the trial court to dispose of the case within six months.
The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam gave the order on Tuesday (Apr 9).
On Apr 24, 2013, over 1,100 workers were killed and thousands injured after the eight-storied building Rana Plaza in Savar collapsed.
In 2014, ACC Deputy Assistant Director SM Mofidul Islam lodged a case with Savar police accusing seven people.
The probe officers later charged 18 people including landowner Sohel Rana under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Later Rana lodged a plea with the High Court seeking bail. The court issued a rule in May 2016 asking why he shouldn’t be granted bail.
The court dismissed the rule on Tuesday and gave the order of disposing of the case.
