Deploy police to mango orchards to stop use of pesticides: HC

Mango. BANGLATRIBUNE/Nashirul IslamThe High Court has ordered the authorities concerned to deploy police to the mango orchard in Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj in order to stop the use of harmful pesticides.
The bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader gave the directives on Tuesday (Apr 9).
The court ordered the divisional commissioner and deputy commissioner of Rajshahi to implement the directives within seven days after hearing a petition on the matter.

The HC also ordered an observation team be formed to protect the fruits from being affected by harmful pesticides in Dhaka.
Inspector general of police, chairman of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and director general of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have been asked to submit a report after the implementation of the order.
