A student has been killed after a bus ran him over at the city’s Demra area.

The incident took occurred when the Ramzan Paribahan bus ran over the deceased at the Mostan Majhi intersection, killing him on spot around 12:30pm on Friday (Apr 5).

The deceased Ibne Taskin Iram, 19, a student of Golam Mostofa College was riding his motorcycle at the time.

Police later recovered the body and sent it to Mitford Hospital morgue.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Demra Zone Assistant Commissioner Md Rabiul Islam said, “The bus driver has been deatained and the bus was impounded.”

Meanwhile, locals and students blockaded the streets after the news of Taskin’s death spread.

Police are still trying to convince the protesting people of get off the streets.

Earlier on March 19, Abrar Ahemd Chowdhury, a student of Babngladesh University of Professionals was killed after being run over by a Suprovat Paribahan bus in front of the main gate of Bashundhara residential area.
