The two brothers, who own the building from where the Feb 20 fatal Chawkbazar fire started, have been sent to jail.
On Tuesday (Apr 2), Md Hasan and Md Shahid, who inherited the ‘Wahed Mansion’ building from their father, surrendered to a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate as their three-week bail from High Court expired.
The court ordered the siblings to be sent to jail before turning down their bail petitions.
The fast-moving fire, which raged through the night of Feb 20 unleashed havoc across five buildings at Chawkbazar’s Churihatta, killing 71 people.
