Bails granted to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in violence cases filed in Cumilla have been stayed for six months.
The Supreme Court’s Chamber Judge Justice Hasan Foez Siddique froze the High Court’s order on Tuesday, when the State moved against it.
It has fixed May 31 for hearing of the State’s appeals against the decision at the Appellate Division’s full bench.

Earlier, the High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice JBM Hasan granted six-month interim bail in the two cases on Monday (May 28).
The State filed an appeal challenging the bail order on the same day.

Deputy Attorney Generals Dr Md Bashir Ullah and AKM Daudur Rahman Mina represented the state at the court.
Lawyers Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, AJ Mohammed Ali, Joynul Abedin and Mahbub Uddin Khokon moved for Khaleda Zia.

Release of the former Prime Minister, Khaleda Zia, who is now behind bar, is now unlikely as she is shown arrested in several other cases.
Cases against Khaleda
Khaleda was named in a case filed for carrying out arson attack on a bus in Chouddagram of Cumilla district during the BNP-led alliance's movement on February 2, 2015.
Seven people were killed and 20 to 25 others injured in the arson attack.
On the following day, police filed a murder case accusing the BNP chief.
The BNP chief sought bail after she was shown arrested in the case on April 5 this year.
Khaleda also named in another case filed under Special Power Act for instigating vandalism and arson attack on a covered van in Choddogram area on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway on January 25 in 2015.
