A case has been started over the Mar 28 fire at a high-rise building in Dhaka.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) chief Asaduzzaman Mia told the media on Saturday (Mar 30) that the case has been filed with the Banani Police Station.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating one-way traffic system at Old Dhaka’s Chawkbazar, DMP Commissioner Mia said, “Anyone found responsible after the investigation, will have to face justice.”
The fire, which broke out at 22-story commercial building in the upscale Banani area, has left 25 killed and more than 70 people injured.
Firefighters, who were joined by members of the army, navy and air force, battled for nearly six hours to put out the flames.
The high-rise building fire comes at the wake of another recent fire in February, when a fast-moving fire swept across several buildings at Old Dhaka’s Chawkbazar killing 70 people.
