Police have been given seven days in custody to quiz the conductor and the driver’s assistant of a Suprobhat Paribahan bus that killed Bangladesh University of Professionals student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasin Ahasn Chowdhury granted the order on Wednesday (mar 27) after police produced conductor Yasin Arafat and helper Ibrahim in it seeking 10 days in remand.
Early in the morning, police arrested Ibharim from the city’s Middle Badda after on obtaining intelligence from Arafat, who was held from Chandpur’s Shahrasti a day ago.
On Mar 20, another court put driver Sirajul Islam, 24, on a seven-day remand over the student’s death.
On Mar 19, Abrar was run over by Suprobhat Paribahan bus while he was crossing the road in Nadda area.
Following the incident, Abrar’s father Brigadier General (retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a case against the driver, his assistant, bus conductor and its owner with the city’s Gulshan police.
