A petition with the High Court seeks a ban on hoisting flags of foreign countries during the upcoming football World Cup.
The plea by Freedom Fighter Mohammad Nurul Amin was submitted on Sunday and the bench Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed is expected to hear the matter on Monday.
Citing the 1972 flag regulations, the petition said a special approval from the government is needed to hoist flags of any other countries, except for the foreign missions.
The petition also seeks an order to take down the flags of several countries, including Brazil, Argentina and Germany, put up by their fans in Bangladesh.
