The High Court (HC)granted six-month interim bail in two cases including a sabotage case in Cumilla.
The HC made no decision on the Narail defamation case as it is being tried in the lower court.
A High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice JBM Hasan passed the orders on Monday.
Attorney General Mahbube Alam and Deputy Attorney Generals Dr Md Bashir Ullah and AKM Daudur Rahman Mina represented the state at the hearing.
Lawyers Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, AJ Mohammed Ali, Joynul Abedin and Mahbub Uddin Khokon moved for Khaleda Zia.
Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who has been imprisoned now, may not be released through the bail orders as she is being shown arrested in some other cases.
The two cases were filed in Comilla on charges of vandalizing vehicles in 2015. Seven people were killed and at least 20-25 injured when assailants hurled a petrol bomb at a bus on Dhaka-Chattogram highway of Chouddagram under Comilla district during the BNP-led alliance’s protests on Feb 2, 2015.
The defamation case was filed by Raihan Faruki Imam with a Narail court on Dec 24, 2015, for Khaleda’s remarks on the number of freedom. On Dec 21, 2015, Khaleda had said at a meeting that there was a controversy over the number of freedom fighters.
However, the state filed an appeal challenging the bail order on Monday.
A hearing of the petition would be held in the afternoon, said Deputy Attorney General Ekramul Haque Tutul.
