Hefazat Amir Ahmad Shafi's son Anas Madani has been accused of making dominance over the Hathazari Madrasa, Hefazat-e-Islam & Befaqul Madarisil Arabia Bangladesh (Befaq). According to the complaint, taking the opportunity of Ahmad Shafi’s senile illness, Anas Madani has terminated the teachers & employees of Hathazari Madrasa without considering the rules. As he is the son of Hefazat Amir, victims are not saying anything publicly.
According to the single decision of Shah Ahmad Shafi, Maulana Anas Madani was appointed as a teacher of Hathazari Madrasa. Then he began to dominate over the institution as the son of the Madrasa Director General. On his recommendation, the teachers are being employed & terminated violating the constitutional rules of the institution.
Sources said, on 28th August, Hefazat Amir Shah Ahmad Shafi’s Press Secretary Maulana Munir Ahmed was dismissed from all the responsibilities of Darull Uloom Hathazari Madrasa on the decision of Maulana Anas Madani. After this incident, the dominating power of Madani and the issues of administrative irregularities were discussed. Without showing any reason, under the influence of Madani, at least 11 teachers and officials have been terminated from Hathazari Madrasa. Among them are: Among them are: Maulana Hafez Kasem (Associate Director and Muhadhis), Maulana Rashid Ahmad Fayzi, Maulana Abu Tayeb Abdullaapuri (teacher's representative), Maulana Hafiz Muhammad Osman, Maulana Tariqul Islam, Maulana Munir Ahmad, Maulana Mahbubur Rashid, Maulana Towhidul Islam, Maulana Hafez Ismail, Maulana Habibullah Sohael, Maulana Hafez Abdur Rashid.
According to the sources, no meeting of the Shura Committee was held from the year 2002 to 2012, which is instructed to happen every year in the madrasa's constitution. Even this July 2017, there is no sign of a meeting of the Shura Committee. Over the time, the appointments and terminations of the teachers executed according to the director general’s sole decision.
In the latest meeting of the Shura committee, Shafi’s son Anis Madani was given the responsibility of Assistant Education Secretary of Hathazari Madrasa neglecting at least 8-10 senior teachers.
In 2012, without mentioning any reason, Maulana Hafiz Mohammad Osman was fired on verbal instructions. He was the teacher of the Madrasa Hefozkhana. After working for 12 years in Hathazari Madrasa, he didn’t know why he had to lose his job.
In this context, Hafez Muhammad Usman said, ‘There is no rule and regulation regarding the job recruitments or the job terminations in the Qawmi madrasas. And it is unfair to dismiss somebody without any reason.’
As Maulana Anas Madani is the son of Hefazat Amir Ahmad Shafi, no one is sharing anything publicly on his mislead activities. On condition of anonymity, a teacher said, ‘Ahmad Shafi is sick and he depends much on his son. Grabbing this opportunity, his son Anis Madani imposed his decisions on his father’s decision. On the other hand, Anas Madani serves wrong information to his father. Basically, after Ahmad Shafi, he is trying to ensure his leadership over the Madrasa and Hefazat and on the way of this process he is firing everybody those who are standing in the way of the process.
However, Maulana Anas Madani denied these allegations. He said, ‘I am the son of Ahmad Shafi and this is my fault. This is why; people are spreading propaganda against me. I do not administrate the Madrasa. There is a committee to manage the Madrasa. Not only that, Ahmad Shafi himself did not make any single decision, he makes any decision after consulting with Shura members and the Madrasa teachers’ committee meeting.
