Fire Service and Civil Defence has recovered the body of a woman who went missing along with five other members of her family after a boat capsized in Buriganga River near the Sadarghat Launch Terminal in Dhaka
The boat capsized on Thursday (Mar 7) night after it was hit by a launch, said police.
Fire service initiated a rescue operation and recovered the body of Jamshida on Friday (Mar 8) noon from the river at Hasnabad area in Keraniganj, Sadarghat Police OC Abdur Razzak told Bangla Tribune.
“The relatives have identified the victim,” he said.
However, Hasnabad police OC Khan Shariful Islam said that the deceased is yet to be identified.
“We are yet to confirm the identity of the victim. The body has been sent to Mitford Hospital for autopsy,” said Islam.
The ones who are still missing are Shahida, her two daughters — Meem and Mahi, Jamshida’s husband Delwar and their daughter, aged seven months.
They had been heading from Kamrangirchar to the launch terminal, to visit their village in Shariatpur district.
The boat overturned near the Sadarghat Launch Terminal around 9.45pm on Thursday (Mar 7) after it was hit by a launch.
Shahida’s husband Shahjalal managed to swim ashore.
