Six people have gone missing as a boat has capsized in the Buriganga River.
The boat overturned near the Sadarghat Launch Terminal around 9.45pm on Thursday (Mar 7) as a launch hit it, said Sadarghat Police OC Abdur Razzak.
Those who went missing are Shahida, her two daughters -- Meem and Mahi, her niece Jamshida, Jamshida’s husband Delwar and their daughter, aged seven months.
They were going to the launch terminal to go to their home in Shariatpur district.
Shahida’s husband Shahjalal managed to swim ashore in the incident, the OC said, adding that two teams of divers from Fire Service and Civil Defence were trying to rescue the victims.
