A man has killed himself by jumping off the 12th floor of a hospital in Dhaka on Saturday (Mar 2), say police.
Twenty-year-old Sohrab, who hails from Narsingdi killed himself by jumping through a 12th-floor ventilator of Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BIRDEM) General Hospital-2 at the capital's Shegunbagicha.
“Sohrab's family wanted him to get married but he was ill,” said Ramna police OC Kazi Mainul Islam.
He added that the deceased was admitted to the hospital on Feb 25 due to his illness.
“He underwent surgery the day before yesterday. He went to the bathroom today and jumped through the ventilator,” he said.
Ramna police Sub Inspector Shawkat Ali said that police was preparing to send the body to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue.
