A six-storey building has tilted at Dhaka’s Keraniganj prompting authorities to evacuate all of its residents.
The incident was reported from Kurarghar area of Keraniganj on Monday (Feb 25).
Witnesses said that residents began to notice the building tilting around 12pm, which they first thought an earthquake.
The residents then saw and reported cracks in the structure and reported to the fire service.
Later, the fire service personnel evacuated as many as 35 families from buildings and another adjacent tin-shed house, according to the witnesses.
Local residents said the building was constructed five years ago by one Shahin. About three months ago the building was sold to one Samad.
Teams from RAJUK (Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) visited the building and declared it ‘risky’.
