The BG-147 flight ‘hijacker,’ who was killed in the commando raid at Chattogram’s Shah Amanat Airport matches a profile in the Rapid Action Battalion’s (RAB) criminal database, says the elite force.
After running his fingerprint through the database it was found that the suspect, who identified himself a Mahadi, matches the profile of a Md Palash Ahmed, RAB spokesperson Mufti Mahmud Khan said on Monday (Feb 25).
The database said that he is the son of Piyar Jahan Sarder, and hails from Shonargaon, Narayanganj.
According to Biman’s passenger list, Mahadi’s ticket was registered as AHMED/MD Polash.
Sources said that he was a student of Sonargaon Degree College and lived in Malaysia for a while as well.
Mahadi, who was in his mid-20s, died from gunshot wounds sustained in a swift eight-minute commando operation, the Bangladesh Army said on Sunday (Feb 25)
