Police in Dhaka say they have arrested four people for their alleged involvement in scamming students by assuring them to provide with leaked question papers for money.
The Detective Branch (DB) made the arrests in the early hours of Wednesday (Feb 20).
Deputy Commissioner Md Mashiur Rahman of DB (North) told Bangla Tribune on Wednesday that the also scammed students by promising to alter test results in exchange of money.
“All four of them are hackers. They used to sell fake question papers as well as assured of changing results by hacking the education board network,” he said.
At a media call later in the day, DB Additional Police Commissioner Abdul Baten said that laptops and mobile phones have been seized from the four suspects held from the capital’s Fakirapool area, reports BSS.
They have long been involved in leaking question papers through pages and groups in social media sites and messaging apps, he was quoted by the state news agency.
According to senior police officer Baten, the suspects would charge between Tk 500 and 30,000 from students promising to leak questions on the groups and pages.
The suspects have been identified as Md Abdul Fahim, 20, Md Shamim Ahmmed, Sohel Rana, 17 and Nabin Ali, 22, according to media reports.
