The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has formed a committee to the cases, in which wrongfully-accused Jahalam spent three years in prison.
ACC Director Abul Hasnat Mohammad Abdul Wadud, an official with the rank equivalent to that of district judges, will lead the committee formed on Monday (Feb 4), said its Chairman Iqbal Mahmood.
Speaking to the media at his office, the ACC chief vowed to work with other parties who are involved with the cases.
“Legal action will be taken if negligence (showed by any official) is found,” he warned.
Jahalam spent the last three years behind bars instead of the real accused Abu Salek on charges of loan fraud and embezzlement of Tk 185 million from Sonali Bank Limited.
A jute mill worker, Jahlamm was named in as many as 33 cases.
He, however, walked out of Kashimpur Central Jail around 12:50am on Monday day after the High Court ordered the immediate release of Jahlam on Sunday (Feb 3).
