Khaleda Zia (File Photo)BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been denied bail in the case filed over the death of eight people in a 2015 firebombing on a bus in Cumilla.
On Monday (Feb 4), the court of District and Sessions Judge Md Ali Akbar turned down the defence’s bail plea and fixed Feb 25 for the hearing of charge framing.
“We will move the High Court against the order,” Khaleda’s counsel Qaimul Rinku said after the hearing.
The former prime minister stands accused of ordering the firebombing of a bus in Cumilla during a countrywide blockade of roads, railway and waterways in 2015.
The attack left eight people dead and another 22 injured.
Khaleda is currently serving 10-year and seven-year terms in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable trust grafts cases respectively.
