Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, an adjunct faculty at the Jahangirnagar University, has resumed his teaching job even after assuming office.
On Thursday (Jan 17), he taught a class of graduate students at the Environmental Science Department.
Mahmud had been teaching the course ‘Climate Change’ at the university since September last year.
“I could not take a class as I was busy with the polls,” he said, adding it was his last class with the students of that session.
The minister said he would continue teaching at the university as a part time faculty.
Mahmud, a well-known as environmentalist had taught at the East West University and North South University.
A Chemistry graduate from the University of Chittagong, he has done his masters from Belgium’s Bridge University on Human Ecology.
The minister also holds a masters degree in International Politics from the Université Libre de Bruxelles, where was later appointed as visiting fellow. Hasan also served as a member of the academic board of Brussels Institute for Strategic Studies.
He served as Awami League’s Environmental Affairs secretary for over a decade. He is currently serving as the party’s publicity affair secretary in addition to his duties as minister.
