A court has remanded Dhaka Tribune and Bangla Tribune’s Khulna Correspondent Md Hedait Hossain Molla for three days over one of his reports on vote counting in Khulna-1 constituency.
Judge Nayan Biswas of Judicial Magistrate Court-3 gave the order on Wednesday (Jan 2).
Police pleaded for a remand of 7 days but the court granted three, his family confirmed.
The journalist was arrested under the Digital Security Act on Tuesday, over a report Dhaka Tribune ran on vote counting Khulna-1 constituency, which encompasses the Batighata and Dacope Upazilas of the southwestern district.
The assistant returning officer Debashish Chowdhury claimed that the contents of the report were untrue and filed a case against Hedait.
