Four days ahead of the national election, Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad has returned from Singapore, where the party said he had gone for a medical check-up.
The former military dictator, who now serves as the special envoy to the PM, landed Dhaka around 9pm on Wednesday (Dec 26) on board a Singapore Airlines flight.
Presidium member Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu and Ershad’s personal aide Manzurul Islam accompanied him during the more than two-week trip.
Amid swirling speculations over his illness ahead of the polls, Ershad flew to Singapore on the night of Dec 11.
