BNP’s Shofu remanded for two days

BNP Voluntary Affairs Secretary Mir Sharafat Ali Shofu A court in Dhaka has rejected the bail plea of BNP Voluntary Affairs Secretary Mir Sharafat Ali Shofu and remanded him for two days in a violence case filed by the police.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court Judge Abu Syed gave the orders on Sunday (Dec 2).
Detective Branch of police produced Sofu in front of the court on Sunday requesting 10 days of remand but the court granted two days , rejecting his bail plea, confirmed court General Register Officer Mahmudur Rahman.
According to the case dossiers, Sofu stands accused of barricading the roads and blocking traffic around Naya Paltan area after BNP Chief Khaleda Zia was convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust Graft case on Feb 8.
In addition to that he and 60 others allegedly attacked the police with bricks and cocktails after which a violence case was filed with Paltan Model police.
