ANM Ehsanul Haque MilonA court in Chandpur has sent BNP’s international affairs secretary ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon to jail.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Shafiul Azam gave the orders after he was produced before the court on Friday (Nov 23)
He has been shown arrested in three cases – a murder case, attempt to murder case and an extortion case.
“Milon was abroad for a long time,” said his counsel Kamrul Islam, adding, “Recently he was in Saudi Arabia where he fell ill while performing Umrah. He had been undergoing treatment there for quite a while and came back home a few days ago,”
“He would have appeared before the court of his own volition but he couldn’t do so due to unavoidable circumstances,” he added.
The court adjourned the hearing in the three cases until Sunday (Nov 25), said Islam.
“Given his physical condition, we have submitted an application to the court requesting that he be provided proper medical care in prison and hope that the court will take it into consideration,” he said.
Ehsanul Haque Milon, former state minister for education during the BNP regime, was arrested from Chattogram’s Chwakbazar area early on Friday.
