A man has lost his leg after being hit by a bus on the Mayor Mohammad Hanif flyover in Dhaka’s Jatrabari.
The incident was reported around 3am on Saturday, within a month of the accident that led to the death of college student and women losing her leg in the capital’s Banani.
The victim 25-year-old Md Russell was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital or DMCH before being transferred to the Square Hospital. He was later taken to the Apollo Hospital.
Police have impounded the bus operated by Greenline and detained the driver Kabir Hossain.
One Imtiaz, who had rushed the victim to the hospital from the scene, Russell was driving a car when it was rammed by a bus on the slopes of Jatrabari flyover.
He got out and tried to stop the bus, but the driver first hit him and ran over him and which left his leg severed, according to him.
On Apr 20, a young woman lost a leg after being hit by a bus in the capital’s Banani. She succumbed to her injuries Sunday morning whille undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
That accident occurred only four days after the death of Titumir college student, Rajib Hossain, who was undergoing treatment after losing an arm in a race between two buses that involved a BRTC double-decker in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar on Apr 3.
