Pathao served with legal notice

PathaoRide-hailing service ‘Pathao’ has been served with a legal notice for charging exorbitant fare.
Supreme Court lawyer Tanjim Al Islam sent the notice on Wednesday on behalf of his client, Dhaka resident Afzal Hossain.
The notice sent to the app-based service, its CEO M Elias and CTO Sifat Adnan cited some incidents of charging extra fare from passengers.
On Nov 4, when Afzal took bike ride from Rokeya Sarani to Bangla Motor the app showed a fare of Tk 121, but after reaching his destination his fare showed Tk 149, says the notice.
It said that charge extra was illegal as per Consumer Rights Protection Act and criminal laws.
Pathao takes money from its customers illegally through its drivers, the notice said seeking action against the Pathao drivers.
If the company fails to respond to the notice within three days, legal action will be taken, said the notice.
