Govt wants to engage university students for discipline on roads

Ministry of Education.To bring back control and discipline to the streets, the Ministry of Education has given five directives to the University Grants Commission (UGC).
The ministry has told the commission that once a month, students will carry out drills relating to road crossing.
On Tuesday (Nov 6), the letter was handed to the UGC through the Ministry of Education.
Signed by Jinnat Rehnan, a deputy secretary of the ministry, the letter contained five directives.
According to the directives, every institution should prepare a plan for traffic circulation which will be displayed in an open space, teachers must ensure the adherence to these directives and one road drill may be held every month with support from traffic police.
The letter further added that the decision on the directives was taken on Aug 16 last at a meeting held at the PM’s office presided over by the cabinet secretary.
